On Saturday, February 22, 2014 - Tecomate Wildlife Systems, Tecomate TV, and Tecomate's La Perla Ranch hosted the Inaugural Tecomate Invitational Games.
Kicking off this year was the "Aggie-Longhorn Rematch”. The competitive celebrated the importance of sports and the spirit of competition it teaches. There may be no better way to learn habits at a young age which can later help drive us on toward greater achievements in life, and victory over the difficult circumstances and trials along the way. We all eventually face them it seems, long after our playing days are over.
As the words of the Texas A&I fight song "Jalisco", sung by Marvin Schwarz when he played football there in the "40's" and later adopted by the school band exort: “NO TE RAJES” ... NEVER GIVE UP. That is what competitive sports can teach us, and they have inspired Marvin's son as long as he can remember, current Tecomate and La Perla owner, Dr. Gary Schwarz.
Filming of the games extended over three days, and included competition between the teams in archery, fishing, shooting sports, and football. The games were filmed for an upcoming episode of the Tecomate Whitetail Nation TV Show on the Outdoor Channel.
A Tailgate Party started at 10am on the sidelines of “The Field at La Perla” before the game between ex-Longhorn and ex-Aggie players together with Gary, and Pastor Matt Carter, of Austin Stone Community Church. Competing for the University of Texas Longhorns with Gary was ex-Longhorn greats Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley. Joining Pastor Matt, competing for the Aggies was ex-greats Stephen McGee and Ryan Swope. There was also a surprise Aggie 12th man who came out of the crowd to assist the Aggie cause, as well as numerous Valley youth participants.
After the game, everyone was able to mingle with the participants and sign autographs.
